As the title says... looking for the next logical tuning step. Better turbo.

So which Turbo for 400/400+ (V9 UK STI)...?

VF43 turbo - to be upgraded
Dump valve removed
255 Walbro fuel pump
Power enterprise 650cc injectors
Samco turbo inlet hose
Full 3" s/s exhaust system
HDI front mount intercooler
HDI inner wing induction kit,
DEI Heat wrap
3 port BCS,
Exedy clutch
Ecutek Re-map - to be remapped with Ecutek

Looking to add Harveys headers and up-pipe to suit...

MD321H/MD321T or SC40/42,those turbo will make above that

You will need 650cc Injectors at least plus I would go with the GT Spec Headers with Harvey Up-pipe,ported headers will be limiting factor above 400bhp

Ok, to gauge the next stage, how much will a VF43 sell for?

Assuming play free operation.

You wont get a turbo that will give you those figures on a 2.0ltr car im affraid mate, not unless you had some seriousley modded heads fitted. The engine and standard heads cant produce that much torque at that level of bhp,if you wanted 400 torque for instance, the turbo no matter what model is fitted as long as its capable of 400/400 or more simply wont give you those figures on a 2.0ltr engined car.For 400 torque you would be around 40 to 50 bhp over that figure so around 440/450 bhp to 400 torque, and if 400 bhp wanted then the torque figure would be around 340/350,its not an exact science but close enough i think,or so studying many many dyno graphs has led me to believe.

Figures were a guestimate...... not an exact number to do or die with.
