popped over to see my engine builder friday to drop some hoses off, he had the block out and sent my heads off for machining and showed me the damage to pistons 1 and 3. at tdc there was around 1-2mm of play due to what is probably a cracked piston skirt. he hasnt had chance to pull the pistons out yet due to the rest of the build being a bit off course. so what turned out to be a suspected tappet was 2 knackered pistons, further proof that boxer engines NEED to be MAPPED acordingly. i brought the car with a "tap" at a reasonable price but had my doubts. its had a chinese filter and polished pipe fitted which caused it to run extra lean and caused det. also was fitted with a 3" turbo back system.
so 4.5 grand on and should be running in this time next week on a 2.1 engine
