Is this a STI Version 7 or 8?
Hi guys,
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=477759579 is advertised as Version 8 even though its a 2002 model. Now there have been a lot of facelifts lately to version 8s and they have been trying to trick people saying that its version 8s but they are just version 7s.
Does anyone have any ways that you can determine if its a facelift to v8?

Visually its as it should be... Door cards, carpet, seats, steering wheel, AC pipework, radiator, rear bumper, lights etc. are all spot on. i believe the blob jdm changed to a VF37 turbo so thats something you could check I guess?
Only other things I can think of that may help you differentiate are checking engine codes etc..... but I couldn't tell you whats right and whats wrong for that model.
If it is a fake v8 somebody has gone through alot of unnecessary trouble.

I think you are right, I might check the engine codes and maybe take a snap of it and post it up here and see if anyone picks up anything dodgy because the seller seems legit but just in case you can never be too sure.

Its a Jap car, They were available on an MY02/52 plate in the UK via import but we had to wait to get the Type UK and these were on a MY03 mainly,
Looks right for an early Jap Blobeye(V8)car to me, Easiest thing to do is to ask for the applied model code of the plate on the top of the passenger suspension strut under the bonnet

It's looks like a jdm blob to me, it has a DCCD which the JDM blob STI's have. As far as I can remember I've never seen any bug eye STI with the DCCD except for some of the Spec C's depending on what model was ordered.
It just wouldn't be worth converting to pass it off as a newer model due to the cost of parts involved. As long as you do your vehicle checks out there you should be fine

Its neither a version 7 or 8, they stopped doing versions after the 6, this car is an MY03 JDM STI, KL spec by the looks as it has the A-DCCD fitted and the lightweight BBS alloys (not the lower spec GL which you really didnt want)
