Default Front number plate

Hi,

had to get a new front number plate for my UK bugeye as the previous one was deteriorated.

Took old one off and now I can't put the new one on! The rubber 'washers' that seem to sit behind the front bumper have moved and I don't seem to be able to reach them from behing by hand to readjust their position.

Any ideas?

I've already drilled the new plate so ideally want to use the same mounting points

They arnt rubber washers, it is a plate that clips on the rear of the bumper. It has threaded holes for the plastic screws. You have 2 options, buy another front plate and re drill it, screwing through the bumper on the outer sides of the bumper holes, , , or remove the bumper and re fit the mounting plate back in position.

Its tricky. I would buy another plate and re drill it. About an inch either side outside the bumper holes.

This is what is inside your bumper -

I've got a replacement genuine plate you can have for postage only, god knows how I ended up with it, drop me a pm if you're interested and I'll see if I can still find it.

You always have the option to stick it on rather than screw , use plenty of sticky pads and it will be very secure - however as you have already drilled the plate , not sure!

I still think I have some kind of rubber 'washer's behind the bumper. When I looked I could see they'd been dislodged and when I tried to straighten them up I made it worse! I have the mounting plate on the front of the bumper but as there's nothing to grip from behind the screws just spin round and don't have anything to fix

The washers are mounted on the rear side of the bumper - hence why I can't reposition them where they should be easily

Was going to try the sticky tape but with all the fuel thefts etc you can't be too careful with somebody swiping your number plate

Have always used Halfords number plate mounting stickers with no problems. You think a couple of screws are going to deter number plate thieves?
