Default which piggy back ecu?

well originally i was after an ecu to put on my car and teach myself a bit of mapping

but after a bit of research im thinking a piggy back ecu may be a better bet to learn with

been looking at greddy e manage

dastek unichip

apexi safc

but does anyone have any recommendations...i like the look of the greddy e-manage bu just wanted to know if anyone else had installed this and what sort of gains you got from it?

is it worth it?

cheers

Piggy back ecu is a bit old hat now, an apexi pfc is probably the cheapest option, an ecu and commander will cost from £350+ depending on your MY, then you'll need the data cable and software.

I can get a piggy back for like 150 quid and then I don't have the hassle of mapping it from nothing...I just thought this way I could introduce myself to it all a bit easier then I'll go all out somewhere else up the line...gonna get myself an air fuel ration meter if anyone can recommend one then a knock sendor or if anyone has any ideas on how to make one with headphones so I can go seriously **** that would be a laugh...it seems the people who map cars are a bit reluctant to offer advice whereas if I do it this way I can learn everythin

dont waste your money on a piggyback ecu, you will learn very little from it other than its a stupid way to do it when there are replacement ecus available.

Most mappers are rather busy so dont have time to spare advice. . its also a bit like ringing a builder and asking advice on building your own house..

Lol fair enough...the only way to learn is by doing it though haha...just don't wanna buy an ecu and then not be able to work it haha

What ecu do you suggest though is best to get hold of if I am going to buy one and teach myself?

Apexi..

hold their value so you can resell if it all goes pete tong, or plenty of people to map it for you if/when you decide you cant.

I really badly want a car with anti lag though lol

Is simtek the only way forward for that?

Is it wise to invest In an afr meter and knock sensor to...what ones do you recommend?

simtek is the cheapest option..
