Default Currently running a VF22 turbo couple questions...

Hi all, my car came with a vf 22 on it. just wondering are these good turbos for a road car? and what sort of power do they see from experience?.. other mods so far ive found, De cat.and center back japspeed system, inductiong kit FMIC ive been told its got a Walbro ( havent checked this yet but i will be ). i will be running autronic ecu so maf less and with have anti lag and launch control. mainly for show rather than use tbf lol.. i was thinkin of changing to a td05 18g or a vf34 or another vf looking for 350-360 bhp on my Version 6 sti.. the TD05 i though being stronger might take some more abuse ie anti lag ? what would every one recomend? theres no right or wrong just from personal preferences, ive had a vf35 and good road going turbo just didnt go passed 327 bhp on my last scoob.

run two vf35's first one made 352bhp and second made 339bhp both mapped with launch control, so they make that figure your after depending on mods/set up and mapping and cheaper than an 18g

VF22 is fine on my car, 305/350. Very responsive but there is an RCM forged 2.35 driving it.

I built a Customer engine with a VF22, 2.0 forged, 9.7CR ported V4 heads, Vpower with 20% Meth, the turbo was a stop gap and had done over 100K, it made 365/350. I would expect a more std engine to get to 330-340?

That sounds promising, having my forged EJ257 with V3 heads mapped tomorrow with 640cc injectors with a VF22 and was hoping to reach around 350/350.. Wasnt quite sure if the Vf22 would manage that kind of power..

That was running 20%meth which adds around 10% bhp/ftlbs

I've read story's on the net about vf22's breaking turbine blades, especially with a FMIC. How much truth is in those story's i have no idea.

Hi,

Had a VF22 on my Version 3 WRX - made 324 at flywheel with FMIC, full decat, light flywheel & walbro.
Didn't have any running probs at all & was great fun !
