Default GB270 Tuning?

Hi all, im looking for any advice or experience with GB270 tuning. Im after a bit more power but nothing crazy so was wondering if 300-320 is do able without going mental.

My thoughts so far are: Fuel pump, panel filter, sports cat and re-map. If needed id also do a scoobyclinic sc36 billet turbo swap. Please correct me if im wrong though as all i've owned are toyotas so pretty clued up on them but only know the basics about scoobys.

Also, does anyone do an uprated rear anti roll bar? Any help would be really appreciated

You will need the turbo, but you could also get VF34/35 for less that an SC36, albeit secondhand. Make sure the map is from someone reputable

cheers mate. yeh that was the other option for the turbo but im not keen on getting a second hand one and brand new they are around the same i think? ive heard jollygreenmonster is the man to go to about mapping? does he do scooby clinics and carnetixs mapping? will the wrx internals stand up to 320bhp along with the intercooler? i know the sti ic is better and its daft but i dont want the car to look any different on the outside or under the bonnet

JGM maps for plenty of people, just search him out on here. The STI cooler will fit straight on as long as it comes with the y-pipe. Don't write off second hand turbos, some good ones can be had and TBH they will be about a third of the price of a new SC36

Hi there

Parts what you are mentioned, plus 3-port boost solenoid and you should will see above 350bhp.But i would recommend STI TMIC which will be best bet and mainly due safety reasons i would go with him.WRX TMIC is OK for 320bhp but above i would go with STi TMIC

Yes Scoobyclinics doing mapping too,Simon@JGM is good mapper and highly recommended by many people

im only looking for 300-320 max mate, sold a 402bhp celica gt4 and got the gb270, loved the power but id changed it that much it just wasnt practicle anymore so i dont want to do the same with the scooby. 320 will be plenty for me and as its number one i dont want to change it that much that it couldnt be returned to standard when i sell it.

SC36 and a map will see you right. Forget SH turbos, the 36 is a bargain for a new unit.

Default mods

Hi - in a similar boat to you as I am about to mod by Hawk PPP Wagon and I am aiming for 320-330 and 380-390 lb ft. I've just bought a used VF35 on here which came unused from a guy with a gazillion posts, top transaction history and before him a well respected breaker, and at £255 it made good sense to me as my car's knocking on mileage wise and I only want to run it for another two years. Yours looks like a minter.
There is all sorts of advice out there but I am not touching the:
stock TMIC (your Prodrive one should be even better)
stock injectors as above
already got Green Cotton filter
already got decat up-pipe

So basically it's pretty much the fuel pump, turbo and custom remap.
I'm having the map done soon by Duncan of Race Dynamix. He's on here and obviously knows his stuff. We'll be using the dyno at Roger Clark Motorsport and I'm dropping her off for a full fettle the day before the mapper gets his hands on it.

Have been advised 4ish hrs labour for turbo swap etc (plus gaskets etc as necessary) then add cost of map & dyno runs.

Apparently the VF35 will top out at about 330 anyway and I think this will be enough for me (foolish words)

If you can wait max month or two I'll give you full feedback and dyno prints the lot.

We are running 490bhp on our bugeye wagon WRX and we are still want little bit more

We are run 350bhp on our wagon and has been OK,at first i would recommend you have look on for Front 22mm and rear ARB 24mm,Anti lift kit and plus better brakes(used Brembo are good upgrade or K-sport,i'm running front and rear K-sport).

Aha about the SH,because SC turbos are great piece of kit, great turbos and great service too from Scoobyclinic.

On yours 2.5L you can put any turbo(SC36,38,42 or 46 or Lateral Performance MDX range) and will spool amazingly.

Anti lift kit is good to have, just search here and what make of ARB's?

For ALK(Anti Lift Kit) i would go with WhiteLine and ARB's too,but we are running Eibach on our wagon and they're few months old and still are like new, what i can't say about the WL(WhiteLine),which rusting lot faster than concurrency

wagon76- cheers for the help mate, wow that is a cheap turbo so v tempting and seems like youve bought it wisely. i should have a bit of spare cash in a month or two though so still v tempting to get the sc36 especially with a better flow rate and being stronger etc. i can hang on a month or two easily as im mostly after ideas at the moment. i want to get the brakes and handling sorted before i run more power through it.

yeh let me know how you get on mate thatd be great

Hi there we are bought Eibach ARB's from US and Whiteline ALK(Anti Lift Kit) from Camskill, but here Ryan@Indigo GT offering 15% Off from WhiteLine products, contact him for best prices

https://www.scoobynet.com/trader-ann...indigo-gt.html

Or i would suggest too Alyn@AS Performance 0191 410 3770 which still give us best prices.

Personally I would upgrade to STI tmic. Your on the limits of what the WRX intercooler is capable of at those power levels I would have thought.

My 06 WRX is running 334bhp and 381 lb/ft with a second hand VF48 turbo, sti tmic, 3 port boost solanoid, sports cat 3" downpipe, 2.5" exhaust, walbro pump, k&n panel filter and remap!

You'll love it, cracking cars to drive at this level. Some good advice on this thread from others. Personally I would fit a VF35, 43 or 48 turbo. They still spool great and are generally quite available and cheap.

Good luck.

Nothing wrong with your list. Panel filter, pump, SC36 and map will make a lovely package. 360bhp and 400lbft should be achievable but of course you can tone it down to your requirements.

yep was talking to Olly yesterday about you - the VF35 is very spooly on a 2.5 and makes for very lively progress

Fuel pump
Sti tmic
Up-pipe sports cat and exhaust system
Next size up injectors
Turbo
And re-map

You will be around 320 easy, I spoke to Simon about my classic with the standard 260ps engine I have replaced fuel pump, version 7 tmic, full exhaust, avc-r boost controller, I have my yellow injectors and just saving for map now and I'll be up to 300 easy

No need for larger injectors on this one, it has the same injectors as the STi from factory.

Guys, if the gent is only looking for the 300-320 mark. Surely his standard turbo would be fine? I agree on the fuel pump and a top mount etc. but fitting bigger turbos seem over kill.

Once he's bored of that power and wants to go for the 350-370 figures then yes. Sc or a good old 20g from AF.

No need for up pipe change, no cat in up pipe on hawkeye. Also as said below, the hawkeye WRX injectors are 550s already same as STI.

The TD04 as fitted to the GB270 won't do that much power, so he'll need something else anyway.

The standard TD04L turbo on the 06-07 WRX and his GB270 will not do anything above 300bhp. Most seem to make 290ish tops.

Kev and I are currently developing a TD04 based Billet hybrid which should give them the scope for a bit more.
