Default Newage sti midpipe - any pictures?

My bug has apparently got an sti mid pipe fitted (ie no cat) compared to the normal wrx item- however looking under the car I have a midpipe which looks pretty much like a cat - confused!

To be clear I am referring to the exhaust section which joins the down pipe and centre section with resonator.

If anyone can give me a picture of what the sti item should look like it would be much appreciated

you might have the oe heatshield fitted which makes it look like the oem wrx item, I had a decat midpipe on mine with the heatshield fitted, from the outside you'd never know. the only way to find out is to take it off and have a look down it!

To me the above item looks as though it contains a cat - looks can be deceiving though

Like I say it could just be the ie heat shield which is designed to fit around a cat, I had the oe heat shield fitted to a decat pipe making it look like the oe cat, this could be the same with yours

My bugeye has got one on too. But mine is a straight through pipe. Mine has got one similar to this link -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...item1e67f18578

And then i have the pipe with the resonator, then the backbox.

That looks like an STI centre CAT, which should then be connected to the STI downpipe.

I upgraded my system a while ago and it looks like my old part.

I have an STi up pipe but according to the prev owner the downpipe is untouched and mated to a STi midpipe (no cat)

Although I have just looked at the for sale details and it is quoted as having a prodrive up-pipe and prodrive mid pipe (pic above) - is prodrive / STi used interchangeably or is the prev owner getting confused ?

I just want to know what I have on there as I was considering putting the mid pipe cat back on (would have to source one)

Because i am not looking to mod the WRX for more power etc, i just want to enjoy it as it is for the time being.

I also want to make sure the engine is happy as i am not planning to remap etc so thought it would be happier if i put the cat back on - if that makes any sense at all. Maybe i am thinking about it too much

Basically i want to maximise reliability
