Turbo seal failure?
Hi guys,
my car has started smoking when I restart it and the engine is warm.
I have been playing about with antilag before noticing the smoke for the first time.
The smoke does clear and does not come back when driving at all boost levels, the turbo is making full boost.
Cold starts does not produce any smoke at all but I have started to notice a rattle sound when just starting to generate boost.
I thought this rattle was either due to the boost solnoid that's just been fitted and not yet secured properly or the defi gauge sensor. I can't hear anything at 0.3bar plus but that could be due to the noise of the engine and exhaust.
Could this be the hot side oil seal that's falling?

Mine was doing this, although there was no rattleing. Then last week the power just died on the M1 and smoke started pouring out the exhaust, i sent the turbo off to be re-built and the builder confirmed that it was knacked, got it back yesterday but haven't stuck it back on yet but sounds like you're heading towards turbo failure like I did
