Default Filter/maf location

Just fitted a front mount to my v3 sti and am having problems finding a filter which fits now, my apexi filter has ended up squashed and out of shape and is probably causing a restriction, I have also tried a slimmer k&n to no avail, I have an adapter plate and various silicone hoses and adapters which I can use to relocate the filter and maf but I was wondering if altering the distance between the maf and filter would be likely to cause any problems, I am having the map tweaked obviously due to the fmic, filter and bov which I have had to fit. Was basically thinking of leaving the maf in its usual position and using half a metre or so of similar bore pipe to locate filter between inner and outer wing.

its the stupid ABS pump being in the way causing the issue,,,,,, im going to either fit a HKS Mushroom or locate it in the corner of the bumper behind the wing ( or rip out the ABS)

Thanks for replies/help so far people, it is an autobahn kit but think the pipework has been changed, it seems most of these kits the pipework on the drivers side ducks down out of the way making room for the filter but mine comes round up near my strut brace then down slightly and through the wing pretty much taking up any spare space that I can put the filter without forcing/squashing it.
