Posted this thread on Swedish subaru forum but it looks like that they cant help me

So the problem is that i get this stange noise on 1-2 gear when the car boost above like
0.8 but nothing at higher gears and higher boost.

The car is a sti 05 prodrive that is almost original.
Got a k&n filter and a dawes device to keep the boost steady.

I have cheked the y pipe,ic,trottle and dump valve and there was nothing wrong there so i am running out of ideas.

The sound apears the be coming somewhere from the turbo or ic.

Any ideas what it could be?

quite hard to decipher a noise from the video sorry but if you say its only happens in 1st/2nd gear then it will be gearbox related as it doesnt do it in any other gear.

what boost is the car running? is the car mapped for it current state on tune

Sounds like turbo noise, its a bit metallic . Sounds quite sporty on that vid.

I has a car with similar noise. The y pipe to intercooler gasket was leaking.

Its a prodrive that should boost 1.4 bar.

Runing maybe 1.1 now but it only goes to 0.9-1 on first and second gear.

I checked to y pipe and it looked whole but there was a lot of black stuff on it.
Looks like something is blowing at it. Ordered a new y pipe and all the gasket just to be sure.

Could it be the gaskets to the downpipe or up pipe?

So i found the problem and i wanted to share it in case anybody runs in to the same problem.

It was the gasket on the right hand exhaust manifold.

The symptoms was the same as a boost leak.

Changed the gasket and wraped the exhaust (destroyed the heat shields)

Now the car is awesome again and it even fixed some other problems.

Had a bad smell when i starterd the car but now its gone.
Also had some noise when i turned left and that is gone too
