Default wrx wagon or turbo 2000 wagon?

hi there can anyone tell me the differences between classic WRX and Turbo 2000 classic facelift wagons?

I ask cause my partner in crime, a my97 wrx wagon, blew up on the weekend so looking at options. The body on mine is pretty rough so thinking of a cheap turbo 2000 wagon with decent shell and dropping in a forged engine, so differences engine wise aren't of too much concern.

thanks and regards,
Ash

MY97/98 UK Wagon = 211PS (208bhp); 201lb ft.
TD04L front entry turbo.

MY97/98 WRX Wagon = 220PS (217bhp); ??lb ft.
VF23 or 24 FE. Or it might be fitted with a TD04L FE. Not sure.

Mechanically, not much between them, as I think vanilla UK Turbo 2000s are basically based on the vanilla JDM WRX counterparts. Possibly the suspension of the UK car tweaked for our roads?

There're other small changes: exterior badging (obviously), equipment levels, fascia changes (gauges), etc...

Cheers Joz, i remember you being a helpful guy! yep, TD04 on the wrx too. I am thinking they are exactly the same engine wise, slightly different map for Japanese/uk fuel maybe. Good point RE the suspension, any idea if the entire tranny is the same including diffs? Ratios and that?

Ratios/FD are the longest on UK Turbo 2000s.

High to low:-

High(ish): UK Turbo 2000s
Lowish lol: JDM WRX
Low: JDM STi
Ultra low: JDM DCCD Type R/RA
