Default Engine remap

I had my car remapped by Jgm a few months back and had all the race rom stuff installed on my 07 wrx, what I want to know is can another tuner remap my car without me having to cough up for the license again?

Reason for remap is my car is always cutting boost, which is getting on my nerves.

I believe another mapper can map your car,but they may charge a bit more than say jgm would because they have to map it from scratch. Once you have paid for the licence I think that's it. It will always be cheaper to go back to your original mapper if you can.

You won't be charged for your license again, but it will still cost you around the £350 mark as it's going to be a new custom map.

You'd be better off contacting JGM and asking him to have a look at the map for you rather than get someone else to map it.

Just drop Simon a text/email - he'll sort it. There may also be a reason it's pulling boost, has it always done it, if not there may be an issue that needs looking at.

As said speak to Simon, sure there is a simple explanation/fix for it - have you checked that there isnt a vacuum hose off the turbo or actuator ?

Tried calling Simon several times but no reply obviously a bit busy, yes it's always done it and I've not changed anything on the car, beginning to think there maybe something amiss with my car as he mapped my classic and it was spot on.

Could have a standard fuel pump cause those same symptoms if it was starting to fail?

Fuel pump issues would present themselves differently.

Sure it is a simple fix - am sure JGM will be along soon if he has the trader alerts set up I know he has had a couple of really busy days and like most of us mappers cant always get on here or answer emails as soon as they come in.

When you say cutting boost, do you mean cutting back onto low boost or actually cutting out due to overboost?

i had an issue like this when my 07 wrx was mapped but it was due to the mechanic not setting the NGK ILFR7H plugs correctly did you change the plugs before the remap?

Sorry drop me an email/pm and I will pop and sort.

Phone is current mental, sorry.

The colder weather is probably causing the boost to be higher and its touching the boost cut, ie. its doing it job.

Yhpm

Just been through all answerphone messages and rang everyone back and although fighting man flu so I could be mistaken but not one from you?

Its a nightmare that is it unprofessional to stop mapping or setting up on a car to answer the phone and it is unprofessional to not return answerphone messages within a couple of days but difficult when this week I have worked late most days and not seen the family.
Emails and pm are easy to reply to as I can do so after hours when you wouldnt want to be answering the phone from my call as your probably asleep.
Sorry and many appologies.

Boost cut seems better since I fitted the bigger intercooler today, but the plugs have not been changed before map, should they have been?

Si will defo sort it.

I had a similar issue in that after the remap my car was cutting boost. One polite email to Simon and a date booked and all sorted on the road. Quick and efficient.

It wasn't Si's 'fault'... There was an unusual issue with the DD RR's s/w's boost parameter - for some reason it wasn't indicating the same boost target as my car's gauge and also as the Simtek's s/w's boost parameter. Or something like that - I can't remember precisely the ins and outs.

Upshot was that car was cutting boost on the road. Simon couldn't check on the road after at the time, due to a full day's mapping and the the fact that the local roads weren't straight/long enough to safely do so, anyway.

JGM FTW!

Cut appears to be fuel surge with lowish fuel in 2nd and 3rd gear when on it.

Hope you enjoy the swichable pops and bangs!
