Default Nitrous oxide???

I have an on going project at the min and and have some big mods planned I'm hoping to get my Impreza upto the 400-450 bhp I have already rebuilt my engine with forged pistons and uprated conrods so I no my engine can handle it!! I have a nitrous kit which I have had for years and was wondering wether to fit it and would it cause me problems. I have an apexi Ecu, can my Ecu be set up to deal with the nitrous? Hopefully the nitrous will be a cheaper way to get me from the 400bhp to the 450bhp mark. I have a 1993 turbo import

I am just having a Wizard of Noz kit fitted to my car now, trying to get the power up to 600bhp I am still running the std ecu but I have purchased a separate programmable controller for the Noz kit, with this I can run 4 maps with the Noz, The kit I am fitting is a wet kit, by the sounds of it, your kit will be a dry kit if you are wanting the Apexi to increase the fuel when the Noz is on.
If your engine is strong enough for the power, then Noz is good as it will cool the engine.
The problem areas you might have could be clutch
and possibly gearbox, specially if you are running the Noz of a Fast & the Furious red button, as the power will come on too quick,
as for costs, Noz is by far the cheapest way to give you 50BHP and a load more extra torque at lower revs.

Good look

Bez

I have a wizard of nos kit which has a progressive controller it's also a wet kit I was just wonder how the impreza will respond to it. I have used the kit on many of my turbo'd cars before and it always runs well just wondered how it will fair up on the impreza.

Why don't you run methanol?I would have thought it would be easier safer & cheaper.

It sounds like we have a very similar kit,
But you have much more experiences with the Noz.

I don't know about Bananaswasp, But I am running with 20% Meth already, reason for me going with Noz, I do quite a few sprints, and apart from getting the extra BHP, it also gives much better spool, I am hoping to be hitting 500BHP with close to 550 lb/ft by 3500rpm, this will help coming out of the tight corners, and then creep the power up to 600BHP by the time the revs get to 7000rpm. running Noz is safe for the engine as it cools the air going in, therefore cools the engine, Running 600bhp on the other hand might not be safe, But the motor is built for 650bhp

Bananaswasp,, what jets do you have in your Noz kit?

OK Bez, Meth hadn't been mentioned I just thought it should be bought up, more for Bananaswap than yourself,as if he got to 400 BHP as mentioned in his post a remap for Meth may see him a lot closer to 450 with minimal effort. Just thought I'd mention it that's all.

Why would it be ?
This isn't the first time I have seen you express a narrow mindedness towards Nitrous Oxide and the use of it.
Have you ever used it ?

In the right hands, nitrous is an awesome addition to a performance engine.
As Bez was saying it dramatically reduces charge temps, gives awesome torque helping spool the turbo and more power at the top too.
It's a win, win, win in my eyes.
Cant wait to fit it on my drag car !

Yep Richard, you might be correct about the Meth for Bananap, and from the right place only 60p per ltr

I had a WON wet kit on my vts. Best performance upgrade for the money by a mile. And on a forged turbo engine there really isn't a downside unless you try and put huge amounts through it. My mates evo has a 50hp shot of nos and a cryo mist kit for his front mount. He's got a pic somewhere of the clocks showing about 150mph and the intake temps at about 11 degrees or something stupidly low like that.

Hi Martin, hope your all well down there.
Engine still going very well, thank you.
But I did blow the turbo at Cadwell just before Crimbo,
So had that re-built, had the clutch replaced, cant believe it lasted so long after the Mapping session with you.
Just getting the Noz fitted as we speak, going to make sure its all ok on the rollers with the Noz, then straight back into events, going to Spa on the Subaru trackday, looking forward to that, I will not be using the Noz there, as I can not get it over on the boat.
Hows your motor doing, and when are you fitting the Noz?

You're more than welcome Bez, glad to hear it's still going strong.
The clutch was a weird one wasn't it, anyone would have thought it was buggered the way it acted during the road test, lol.
