Default SORRY advice needed again!!!

Just had my engine out for the head gaskets to be done by a friend who knows scoobys well, ive put it all abck in following the the diagrams i drew as i took it to bits as well as photos i took.

The problem is though it just wont start, its firing as if it wants to go but wont, ive checked the cam sensor, crank sensor all the injector plugs, the fuel lines are definatly in the right order, and there ias also a really good strong spark.

I fitted new plugs and did an oil flush before it went in, also gapped the plugs to 0.8mm which is what auto data recomends, the engine was re-shimmed by the guy who built it for me as its not got hydraulic lifters, and ive al;so checked the timing and all seems ok there as well.

Any help would be much welcome cheers wiggy1.

Forgot to mention its a uk turbo 2000 MY97 phase 1.5

ill change the plug gap again then, and yes all pipe work to the maf sensor is connected, ive checked for fuel mist and there is mist present, and there is not fault codes showing my mate came round with a snap code reader, im thinking that the timing could possible out by 180 degrees would this cause the problem???

Sounds like cam belt timing wrong or camshafts fitted in the wrong position eg Inlets swapped with exhausts or Right Hand fitted in Left Hand side.

If all your timing marks line up your timing can not be out unless you have mixed up the cams or the sprockets when rebuilding it. The sprockets have ID marks on them check
they are in the right place &
timing marks aligned if all good do a compression test before striping it down again. If compressions all good I would look elsewhere. Your mate with scanner may be able to look at live data while cranking do cam crank comparison to see if timing out.
