Hi, I am getting into a bit of a pickle here with the name of parts. The CEL light on my Bugeye Wagon WRX has throw up and the error code is P0031 Bank 1 Sensor 1, Ho2s Heater Control Circuit Low.

A quick search around this fine forum reveals the general consensus is a Lambda Sensor fault. On phoning my local garage the problem is described by them as an AFR Sensor fault, I grabbed the part number 22641AA042 and google shows it up as a Lambda.

Are both sensors the same thing and the 'Lambda' name is used to cover a number of sensors?

lambda , AFR, hego, Oxygen are all used to describe the sensor.

Its correct name is a oxygen sensor as that is what it is sensing in the exhaust flow.

forgot to add, front and rear sensors ( usually either side of a catalyst ) are usually different so make sure the correct one is used.

Just buy genuine Denso one,which you can buy easily on eBay for £90 or from this company

thank guys for clearing that up. Part ordered plus the funky socket to help remove the old one and presumably install the new.

Its rare the sockets work to remove the old ones as the so well rusted in. you'd be better off using a 22mm ring spanner.
