How can I tell if I have cdb or odb

Any help please

look at the block under the Alternator / Power Steering pump A CDB will have cross hatchings.

You could also have a Semi CDB, not sure if their is a way to tell a Semi CDB from a ODB visually without head removal.

The 94 wrx has got a v4 block and heads with a v1-2 inlet and turbo but I want 2 build a 2.1 stroker and Ive got another engine in my garage

1994 standard wrx is likely open but some are cdb
#3 thrust
hla valvetrain

not a v4 longblock spec, v4 is quite different

The only true way to tell a closed deck block is to look for hash markings behind the oil modine,dont rely on markings behind the ps pump or crank sensor its not a guaranteed sign.

quickest route is the starter hump on the bellhousing
