Your internals won't be able to take it mate. Try the top end of 300bhp. To start off with
de cat straighthrough exhaust
uprated panel filter/cold air induction kit
injectors
turbo
and possibly intercooler
and don't forget the remap lol.

bigger turbo, injectors, exhaust, induction kit, and all set up via a re-map

shouldn't be far off 400bhp, wouldn't of thought

Yeah you will need to go for semi forged or fully forged internals for that added bit of reliability. But they aren't cheap.

I forgot to add that to the list lol. After you pass a certain BHP you need to upgrade so many other parts.

That car wont take the power, you will need to budget for 10k+ if you want a reliable 400bhp from any classic, you cannot do it on the cheap, your car will just be off the road after another part fails.
If you want a car that has the option of a reliable 400bhp then go sell yours and invest in a new age MY02 STI, cheapest option available to you (and your insurance will bend you over also )

I understand that there is a lot of upgrading to do, but i have upgraded a lot already its reall just the engines that need it now, ap racing brakes, heavy duty clutch, suspension, drop links, strut braces, fuel pump, remap. its an Rb5 low miles, so i think its worth doing the engine,

Stick with 340ish on a classic, which is lovely. Save yourself a BIG bill! Even if you already have the brakes and suspension and clutch (which I did too)

Been there....

Then take my advice and ask a reputable firm like APi or Scooby clinic how much it will cost you on a drive in and drive out basis. The right turbo alone for that power is 1.3k. Not trying to put you off, just trying to make sure you go in with your eyes open.
