Hi, i have a set of electric folding mirriors and switch on way, i have maunal folding mirriors on car, is it an easy fit, not had a look yet but if anyone else has done this before any help would be usefull thanks.
That guide is not entirely relevant, due to what he is doing, but the general jist of it is there.
One thing I noticed, he used a heat gun, for 15 minutes on each mirror glass to release it. I've done it many a itmes with just a kettle of boiling water straight over the glass to. Works fine, and a lot quicker.
Good point, you wont if you are just doing a swap, elec for no elec folding. But I decided to try and take the mirror motors out, to place in my old UK mirrors to save having them painted. It wont work.
Its not a hard job, depends what car you have a bit. My MY00 UK, had the loom/extra wires from the mirrors to the connector blocks at the base of the footwells. I just had to run two wires from each, under the carpet, to the centre console switch.
E-mailed you the instructions, they are in MSWord.
They LOOK frightening, but REALLY aren't, most of it is how to get the doorcard, gearlever trim etc off, and it takes longer to type than to do: I can remove and refit a classic doorcard in under ten minutes now.
alcazar advice helped me loads when i did it, you just need 2 extra wires from the switch to the mirror really one to open other to close , hardest part is routing wire through the door.
it is a simple job that can be done in an hour, no glass removal etc to do
take advice from people who have actually done the mod, pm alcazar as he has done it on a classic i did it on a newage but still basically the same involved.
