Smile Should I stick it on?...

As some of you may have seen from "Returning after many years" thread, I now own a nice Jap import JDM classic. When I bought the car one of the first things I did was go and visit Scooby Bits as they are literally on my door step lol. Chap had a good look round and mentioned a few bits he could see that were definatly not standard so plans are to have it live mapped to a comfortable power that can be achieved (especially as it hasn't been mapped yet even with the parts fitted, but still runs good as the wastegate is controling the boost fine).

Which leads me to my question. When I bought the car it came with an open mouth downpipe with sports cat juat after the turbo and no cat near the centre section. I know full well this is an aftermarket piece but wondered if I should fit it??? Or will it be worth waiting until it gets mapped???

Cheers guys.

Regards, Andy

Is the sports cat brand new or used?

If its used, it was probably swapped with a normal cat to get it through MOT emissions.

Also have a look down it from both ends and give the monoitlih (honeycomb) a good look over, If its damaged, melted or rattles, its knackered anyway.

All looks goods to me. It is used and yes, Chris (previous owner) did say it came off for MOT but never went back on. No rattles and from what I can tell, the honeycomb is all good. Weldings look solid aswell. No idea what make but looks quality material, just hasn't been cleaned/polished back up yet.

But here it is...(sorry for the darkness)...

Bloody hell, never noticed that. Just measured and it's actually 2.5" down to 2.25" internal bore. Hmm... Rest of the system is straight through though with a baffled backed box (still straight through just drilled inside for the baffles).

Not sure what to do now lol
