Yes, audible and/or visible.
I've seen one on an STi5 Type R, fitted aftermarket. Large blue VERY bright LED.

But seriously, if you need telling when to change, did you ought to be driving a Scoob?

normally most aftermarket taco meters have vidible or audio signals which are adjustable to what RPM you want it to kick in

I have one on my hill car, and would argue i can drive, but on the hill rpm isnt my focus, so the lights do help.

I have a caterham r500 style one off of ebay- i would try and get one that gives you a little more warning by displaying a sequence of lights, rather than just one as they can come up a bit quickly at times

Mine is attached to the inside of the cowl which was simple, and ensures you dont miss them if the sun is in your eyes.

I also have an oil pressure warning light attached in there, driven from an spa oil gauge- just a thought for you.

Indeed. The bleep change up warning has been in f1 for ten years and still used by every team. How do you think they change up with perfection each time...

Errrrrrrrrrr, because it's electronic, and they need it because they can't HEAR the engine properly as it's behind them and they wear a helmet etc?

YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT????
they are sat 12 inches away from a engine reving @18000rpm and you honestly think 2.5inch of foam and around 5mm of kevlar or whatever material it is they use in helmets is going prevent them from hearing the engine properly.

i think you will find it is more to do with as billythekid said

it aids them to change up with perfection each time...
