Default timing belt snapped

i have a my 95 wrx import and was wondering wats the chances of bent valves and if so wats the best route to go down,do i get a set of rebuilt heads from a reputable engine builder or do i go for a engine rebuild altogether...i was only doing 10 miles an hour and coming of a roundabout and it went...

valves will almost certainly be bent.

i have a set of low mileage heads off my 93 wrx(done 61k)lovely and quiet mate swapping engine due to big end knocking.

You'll also need to check the valves haven't dented the pistons. If they have they will need changing as the dents will cause high spots which can encourage detonation and also the stress of the damage to the piston crowns can affect their integral strength.

I don't mean to be rude here, but is the car worth it, you can pick up a 95 wrx for less than £2k and the engine will cost you £3k..

Just a thought before you end up with a car thats worth less than £2k and owes you £5k like soooooooooooo many of us

As you can buy a well sorted scooby for £5k running close to 400bhp

Pistons normally survive ok when the cam belt breaks - the damage is usually done by Inlet valve to exhaust valve contact which bends them.
Heads off and repair or replace with good ones as in Post #3 would be a viable repair.

As merlin says but pistons need to be checked. Other option is a set of sti3/4 heads which are far better. Bit if on a tight budget and pistons are ok then £50 for a set of heads looks like a good option.

you would not and i would not sell my classic for 5 k with its six speed box runnign 390 hp and all it needs is a sc46 to run more for 5k not a hope in hell id rather burn it more like 6.5 k to 7k

the closet ive every seen to a classic running a proper 400hpp with all the mods and engien spec close to mine was about 5.5 and that did not have a the six speed set up

not intrested in big power just want it up and running properly,not too worried about what it costs as plan on keeping it anyway..
