Did you remember to refit the thermostat when you refitted the pump?!

Definitely thermostat related, it's either been left out or it's stuck open. Either way it's allowing the coolant through to the rad constantly which is why it isn't holding temperature. Don't hammer it until it's sorted.

It can ONLY be stat related IMO too.

Pretty much as Dan said.

If you still have the old one and it was working when you took it off, just re-fit it.

you temps will alter anyway if your on the spot, when your moving the air is cooling it, on the spot and the heat builds up.

Weird.

But I suppose you could have got unlucky with your cooler stat being a lemon. Was it a Zero Sports 71C one? I had one fitted to my STi 5 the other month and it's fine. (Also had one on my previous 93 WRX and that was fine too).

But as Dan said, the logical thing would be to reinstate the original one (that way you are ruling the stat out). Then see what happens...

When you drop the coolant, collect it in a large jug to reuse (seeing as it's new stuff)...

Be like me - g/f and wife free. It's really liberating. Can do what the **** you like without any semblance of ballache/'guilt', etc.

And yes, I've experienced a long-term (7yrs) relationship too, so have seen both sides.

Just employ ladies of the night (should that be your bag) for any 'needs' you might have.......

LOL!!!

I've vowed to myself to NEVER EVER add up my car's receipts! I think I'd genuinely top myself otherwise...

So didn't quite get to the "7 year itch" -- the bitch 'bailed out' too soon.
