Talking TMIC or FMIC

I have a 99 wagon wrx, Auto ( yes thats right folks I said Automatic), and it already has a fmic , but the piping looks like it has cheap welds etc, doesnt look like a quality product. I also have a HKS FMIC and a Sti 8 TMIC available to fit if needed.

I have a full stainless exhaust system, induction kit, fpr, magnecor leads, HKS bov, and plan to get a remap at some point but maybe after I changed the turbo to a slightly bigger one.

What I dont want is too much lag as anyone that has driven a auto will know you want immediate acceleration.

I have just fitted a Ap racing front brake setup and BC coilovers and also a few whiteline goodies along with a Tein strut brace so my handling cornering and braking is sorted now its time for some power.

I will be servicing the car this weekend so after that its time to play.

Any help guys is much appreciated.

Wayne

i would fit the hks front mount mate as they the best in my opinion, you do get more lag with a front mount but as you are going to be changing the turbo and a remap shouldnt be to bad

It depends on what sort of power your looking for,as the auto box can struggle past 320 bhp,so the sti 8 tmic would be a good choice imho. As for turbos opt for a vf24 if you can get one as it spools up quite quick and has better mid range than your td04,and well suited to auto cars or a vf28 if you struggle to get a vf24.
You might want a 3 point boost solenoid as well to get the best out of it.

I have a 3 port already, and ideally yes I wanted a vf24, 320bhp would be fine. Its funny how many people say stay with the fmic though. The auto box takes off almost 2 seconds to 60 so I need everything to work aswell as it can.

Fmic will work better when car is mapped, but not a neccesity. Lichfield type 25 uses a sti tmic and pushes out 415 bhp std.

I havent fitted the 3 port yet and I need to check if it has a 3 port already, I will check today. Cheers for that. My boost gauge should arrive today so can wire that up and check whats going on before I change it.

I'd say go for the top mount, the front mounts come in handy if you're planning on tracking the car as they don't suffer from heat soak issues but for fast road use, unless you're aiming at big bhp you can't go wrong with a top mount
