Just wanted to get a idea wot A/L is, I had it mapped onto my old scooby but never actually found out wot it is,

Question is do you have to have it mapped or can you do it another way ?.

simtek ecu you can have it mapped in not sure on other aftermarket ecu's

antilag is a function available on certain aftermarket ecus (simtek, syvecs, gems, autronic etc) and needs mapping in / setting up and when switched on the idle valve is openned to supply air and the idle speed is therefore increased and ignition and fueling are adjusted to cause unburnt fuel to explode in the manifold to spin the turbo.. therefore on a gear change for example the idea is that it will be quicker to return to full boost when you come back on the throttle.

In reality on most cars it is just used to create lots of noise and some flames from the exhaust, there is a small gain but really the idle valve doesnt supply enough air, on true full on antilag (which wouldnt want on a road car) the throttle is either jacked open or another valve is used to supply the air, sometimes direct into the exhaust.

Seen that video pretty awesome sound, I have got to the bottom of my running problem, A small hole in my fmic :-(, So already for remap now just got to book time of work ;-), But i have to say my car sounded awesome with the fault but wouldn't idle lol.

 

Is the subaru in the Vid running true Anti-lag or the Anti-lag most have on their road cars?

believe that is true antilag but you can get that sound on road setup.

It is also not that difficult to do full on antilag on road car, but the main issue is the lack of brake vaccum when manifold is around atmospheric pressure.. so need brake vaccum pump or non servo assisted brakes.

Simon did a great job on my antilag lol it's great fun but I have stopped using it tbh.

It's wasted on a road car and too noisy for track, so unless you want it for tunnel runs etc I wouldn't bother second time round

For the performance gains (which I've never seen) I would go for some mild pops and bangs just for fun and pass on the ALS.
