Default methanol use

ok, going to go down the methanol route very very soon, my question is this, is it better to mix in the tank or use a system such as aems or aquamist to spray it into the manifold. i know that methanol is a pig to handle so interested what power differences there is between the two types

yep thats a fair point....only reason i was looking at say a aquamist system was to aleviate the hassle of mixing exact quantities in the tank, and also the problem of if the car is sat for any length of time the methanol in tank attracting water and in effect contaminating the fuel.

as long as you have an ecu with 2 maps then put in the tank as no risk of problems ie.the nozzle getting blocked or a problem with the pump.
mine made 476bhp on vpower and 516 with 20%meth so quite an increase.

the cost of something like the aquamist is quite high but I expect you have researched this. Installation cost is also high, it really needs someone who's done it before, a good mechanic may shy from wiring it in. A good system well installed has no issues and is easy to run. On my set-up I would have to run 20% meth to replace the water-meth injection.

putting it in the tank is a rite pain in the *** so much so that i got rid of the meths map completely and just bought a bigger turbo also if your car is to be a weekend toy then matbe you should rethink meths and buy a bigger turbo as i did, meth will seperate from the fuel in the tank after time

already running decent turbo, basically looking for max gains whilst i build bigger/better engine, meth is good option as you can get good power increase without really increasing cylinder pressure i.e. not having to up boost

It's North American Subaru Owners Club, if you put in either on your browser it'll come up.
Just go into forums and you will see the section. Not sure how far you can get as a guest but easy to join if needed. Richard from aquamist posts up there but clearly he's not an advocate of putting it into the tank
