Default Engine Light - HELP!

Ok, so after two months of happy ownership, my 55 plate blobeye WRX has decided to play silly buggers and give me the engine management light on the dash. I took her to get cleaned and polished this afternoon before popping quickly to get the mrs from the train station......anyway, on the way back (around 2 miles from home) the engine management light has come on.

Any ideas people?

Its on 64k miles and has fsh - I was intending to get it into scoobyworld/scoobyworks next friday but thinking it may be better gettting it in Monday instead for a check. It does have a slight miss at times when stood at lights so i'm hoping its nothing more than new plugs/leads. I checked it over when i got home today and there's nothing obvious, all fluids seem fine, turbo isn't smoking and no strange noises from the engine.

Thanks - Shaun in Notts

Hi, Yes deff a Sensor, but one of many! MAF Sensor,Lambder Sensors,Knock Sensor! Best get it in for a Scan, The earlier the better. Could even be a dodgy coil pack, get it checked just to be on the safe side. Good Luck.

Thought i would give you all an update on my motor. Took it into scoobyworld/works and the code was telling us that it was running "lean" - anyway it went in for a interim service and dyno run to ascertain fueling and it turns out it was actually running rich and showing 231 hp (4 down on what it should have been). Anyway, they inspected the panel filter and it was in a bad way so we stuck a K&N panel on it and did another run......turns out it instantly fueled correctly and ran 255hp on the dyno. Turns out i've bought myself a 2005 WRX with prodrive pack (only the previous owner has obviously sold certain parts such as prodrive hose on ebay). What a great surprise that was on friday...happy days! Scoobyworld are a great bunch of lads and know their scoobies!
