EcuTek License?

EcuTek License?
Just a couple of quick questions for anyone in the know, I have an Ecutek map on my car which is a MY03 JDM STI Spec-C Ltd
Now only having had it for a few months i have every bit of paperwork since new.
My question is how does the EcuTek license work?
Do you have a certificate or such like, I have the receipt for the work done which was at Powerstation in 2006,
EcuteK Re-map £550
3 Port Boost Solenoid £120
K & N Panel Filter £40
+ vat £835.34
My second question would be, How long has Megarom been out as i presume i have the standard Ecutek map,
Is it possible to upgrade to the Megarom(I presume it is) and does it have to go back to powerstation, As the license was paid within the fee to them,
How would this effect me if i wanted to get it mapped elsewhere?
Thanks, Gaz.

Your receipt will be YOUR proof, even though it isn't needed for a further EcuTEK remap. All the required information is stored on the ECU.
Your ECU is compatible with MegaROM.
All you need to do is either go back to Powerstation and ask for the MegaROM and an appropriate remap, or contact another EcuTEK mapper.
The license is already on your ECU, so all you have to pay for is the mapping.

The more functionality you want, the longer it may take and the more you may have to pay. Since you have the license, it's a time factor for the mapper for your remap.
Personally I would use Tracktive Solutions (Richard Bulmer). They are my mapping company of choice and have been for four years now.
MegaROM can utilise per gear boost strategy, launch control and other advantages like the use of two full maps (for various fuel requirements for instance).

Nope... the mapper can choose to switch on a separate boost, ignition or fuel facilities that can be totally different to MAP A (your main map).
If you want to run two different fuel types (which at the very least will require different fuel and ignition - maybe boost - from your main map) you can. One fuel type for MAP A and another fuel type for MAP B.
If you want to run two different boost levels, you can with MAP A (say) @ 1.7bar and MAP B (say) @ 1.3bar.
It all depends on what you want.
I only use MAP A and MAP B to switch my boost maps, as I don't use different fuels.
You could use MAP B as a 95octane map for instance.
There are quite a few uses for the second MAP.

Very interesting Shaun, I was just wondering what the capabilities of the newage JDM ECU were but it looks like it's going to be enough for what I use the car for,
I suppose flatfoot shifting is out of the question though?(think I'm asking for a bit much here) lol,
I've read through your thread, plenty of good info there, I know a fair bit about scoobys but don't confess to know everything hence my post, it's good to get a bit of helpful advice when you need it though,
Thanks, Gaz.
