Has anyone done a back to back comparison?

Yes, i know its sort of apples and oranges, but both are performance cars and many owners have moved between the two models. I went to see one yesterday @ subaru garage (been looking at a blob Sti JDM)..might go for a test drive..they are obviously much more expensive...youre paying for that leather...and they also tend to be higher mileage....and running costs..

I dont know if the Beemer would be as thrilling to drive..i love the flat 4 drone, and the induction whoosh/turbo spooling etc etc...thats the child in me..the grown up wants abit of comfort and prestige...

The only M3 id consider is the E46..i had an E36 325SE..good car but boring tbh and made my scooby seem almost economical by comparison!

Opinions please?

 

You REALLY can't compare the two.

The Scoob is more about raw, frenetic power, and great grip.
The M3 just does it without trying.

 

sounds boring..might arrange a test drive though...
i dont want to feel like simon cowell in one.

Fella up the road has an M3 and it is beautiful and does give that 'made it in life look', but when he pulls off it sounds like a bag of spanners and have heard the same noise from others. I think the V8 is such a better option. But like you said it is a luxury car so you will get a lot of premium options over the scoob just not my cup of tea unless it an E90
