Default Dump Valve advice

Hi guy's I am new to the world of scooby mania, and would love some advice on fitting a nice noisy dump valve to my 52 plate WRX, basic simple to fit and which is not going to cause any long term damage.
Look forward to your advice, cheers.

In the VERY short time i've been on here (ignore my sign up date - i've been a scooby owner for a month now) and one thing i've learned is.....don't fit a dump valve unless you NEED one and going for big bhp, they make your car overfuel like a bitch. remapping can help - but still.......
Regards

Forge and Bailey seem to be the poular choices for the normal type, i have a forge also, your car will be happier air metering wise with a recirc (no whoosh) and that's what it supposed to have i think but you can now get hybrid valves that return some to the inlet like a recirc and still go whoosh think scoobyclinic sell some

Utter nonsense, shows the level of some on this site.

Firstly, your car already HAS a dumpvalve.
Secondly, fitting an aftermarket one is a total waste of money if you fit the same type as fitted from new, a recitculating one, and the VTA ones loved by chavs, cause overfuelling which CAN lead to engine, valve and cat damage.

Your choice, but please be careful of advice like "get one, it prolongs the life of your turbo"

BTW: Baileys d/vs are SH!TE!!!!!!!!

Also, scream 'I'm a ****' out the window on down changes

In seriousness, if you HAVE to get a vent to atmosphere dumpvalve that gives the god forsaken "whoosh" noise, buy a respectable brand like Forge over the cheaply made Baileys ****. I know as my third Impreza (previous to current one) had a Baileys fitted and it was terrible. Spring was naff and I'd get leaking air with no boost! Lobbed and replaced with a nice Forge (but re-circulating) item

You'll find there is a very eclectic mixture of people on here. That's all fine and dandy as it allows debate, arguments etc. to keep the boards busy; but it's when you get blatant shoite like the above "prolongs turbo" comment said to newbies like yourself that issues start. Please be careful who you take advice from and remember that there are some very good Subaru specialists out there too, many of which post on here

Good luck and enjoy your Scoobaru ownership fella.

I had a dump valve on my car when i got it, took it straight off.

If you really do still want one then get a Forge one.

Probably have my one laying around somewhere.

But don't do it (IMO)

DV or recirc can prolong life of older IHI turbo(VF22,VF24,VF28) on newer turbos you can run DVless, but generally DV/Recirc can help too spool turbo.

DV or Recirc its probably best thread for SN Fashion police, but in my view use yours OE recirc or aftermarket Forge Recirc, just don't buy Baileys, they're ****

If you are want DV again have look for Forge

On the end i would add,its your car and not these guys,do what you want...

Agree Jura, it is his car. The point being made isn't just necessarily one of the "fashion police" but that of the consequences it has to the running of the engine

We're talking people who fit a VTA dumpvalve and do no mapping or other associated tweeking to accomodate as such. Well that's my angle aside from the annoying lift off noice

Just to add, people like me and others are saying the above as we have experienced at first hand the poor running on VTA's and by doing so passing on valuable advice to be considered.

Your music still coming along nicely mate?

Andy agreed maybe i've been too harsh but i'm fed up trying to say same again everytime

I've run both types and DVless(never ever i would run without the DV) and my wagon run best with Forge, car has been tweaked for all types.

With some VTA yes you can suffer with problems, but with some no(i mean Forge)..

On classic i would run only Recirc,if have mafless aftermarket ECU its another story...

About the music, yes everything is fine,10 new tracks are ready to upload and hopefully someone will singed me

Collected my 5th Impreza sat and it has a sard dump valve, spring to soft and you can see it moving when on idle, almost causing the car to stall.......... Definately over fuels as pops for no reason, will be removing soon, and buying Forge

Hey, thats my old line!

And I got flamed too.

Seriously though, its up to you (the OP). Have the whoosh sound and sacrifice smooth running or spend your cash on something worthwhile. Why do you want one, to make the car faster? If so there would be plenty of better suggestions if you ask.
