Default Blob eye wrx sti exhaust query!

I just had a quick look at my exhaust system and it looks to me like the centre section is the standard one, it's just a straight pipe with no cat or anything in it but looks a lot older than the back box..

Do sti's have cats in the centre section?
Will the standard (if that's what it is) centre section be ok to leave on with my new Decat down pipe going on??

Thanks
Rich

The standard blob sti centre pipe just has a resonator in it no cat, the 2 cats are 1 in the downpipe and 1 in the short Link pipe between downpipe and centre section

Lol ****ing iPad.

So the centre section can stay on and I won't see any benefits from an aftermarket one?

As already said above, the standard centre section has a resonator in it not a cat. So if you swapped it for a straight through pipe you wouldn't gain any performance just a bit more noise

Ok thanks, the only reason I asked again is that it looks like a straight through pipe ie. No box section etc.

Are the downpipes easy enough to fit??

On your standard STi you must remove TMIC,turbo heatshield, and i would recommend use WD40 on nuts, which are on downpipe.

Allow for fitting dp around 1-2 hour, but without the ramp is pain to do.
