what engine to go for in my classic, need some scooby net help
ok so iv had my 99classic little over a month now and its already gone through some big changes its far from standard anyway some of you may know its as abws carbon skind classic, iv replace the front end with a time attack inspired front end fully fitted roll cage, changed the standard seats for cobra evolutions , next on the list will be taking out the 2000 engine and replacing it with some sort of sti engine now this is where i need some advice, my idea was to drop in a new sti lump ie wr1 engine or 2003/4 sti engine, slightly bigger turbo looking for figures of around 360 to 380, but i understand that its not a straight forward change, am i correct?, im running simtek ecu too, i dont want to compleatly break the bank i know its not going to be cheap can anyone give me some ideas/info or suggegstions on which way i should go thanks

If you're only looking for that sort of power mate you dont need to break the bank.
If it was me I'd get hold of a closed deck block for around £600 then fit your MY00 heads and inlet to it or use a newage sti bottom end.
I'm running 337bhp on a standard MY00 lump with a VF35 turbo, FMIC, walbro and sports cat system.
Main thing will be to look long term, are you likely to want 400+ at some point and wish you'd gone for a 2.35 setup?

Speak to Mark Thwaites. He's done the newage STI lump with avcs into a 99 uk turbo before, and it sounds awesome! I know he needed to mod the engine loom though, cant remember whether it was the classic or newage loom though

Thanks for the info lads well mark at thwaites will be doing the work anyway just wanting get a heads up on what's available to me without killing my bank balance, I'm liking the idea of putting new lump in, I don't thinking I'll be wanting more power than 380 to be honest, thanks for the help

A classic STI lump wil handle that power but if you can afford it newage will be a little safer. You don't really need a CDB at that power....or a SCDB either but it will give a little piece of mind
Certainly don't need a 2.35 build.....that WILL break the bank....and the rest! Lol.
