Are there any other codes? U**** or B****?

That would help narrow it down.

Looking at the Subaru Diagnostics section P0600 - Serial Communication Link

DTC refers you to check out the complete LAN System, starting with whether or not SSM can communicate with the vehicle.
Also suggests there could be a problem with the Body Integrated Unit connector.(needs cleaning)

In brief no simple diagnosis

Yeah, that was my take on the issue also - P0600 is just too generic.

If however there's also a B**** or U**** code that would really help. For example U1223 in conjunction with P0600 would seem to indicate a VDC control unit malfunction.

Incidently Don, what version of the service manual have you got? Is it specifically for the UK model?

Cheers, Neil

were having some issues with not only the impreza but the forester too, wipers/radio/dash going off on the move but resets when you stop the vehicle. suspect the body modules are failing after a set period on some cars
