Default Power steering pump problems

My alternator belt snapped the other month and after replacing it, it snapped again a few weeks later.
It turned out my power steering pump was 'jolting' causing friction on the belt resulting in it snapping.
My close friend owns a garage and offered to fit the pump if i paid for it. I ended up buying one second hand from facebook.
Its now a few weeks later and the pump is jolting again.
At first it was when I first started the car and he said i just needed to ''break it in'' but now it is pretty much every time i turn a corner.
I have obviously now stopped using the car and will be buying a brand new pump.

However I just wanted to know if it could be anything else effecting the pump or have I just had a case of karma for buying a second hand part?

Also is there somewhere online I can buy the pump from?

Thanks in advance

The only time I have had issues with power steering on the Subaru's is with it getting air into the system via the top 90 degree elbow, usually replacing the o ring cures it.

That's the thing but the whole pipe was changed with the pump as it was leaking fluid

I would unbolt the elbow on top of the pump & change the o ring, the elbow doesn't like being disturbed, its worth small expense of the o ring.
