Air con not working
Needing a bit of help before resorting to paying garage bills.
As above the air con is not working.
When I switch it on the electromagnetic clutch on the pump is not engaging, no click, no rev drop at idle, nothing at all.
Following checks have been done:
System Gas - ok
Fuse inside car - ok
Relays in engine bay - ok
Is there anything I have missed, or any other electrical checks I can do.
Cheers

Have you checked the ECU. I know its a silly question, but I have a Simtek ECU and the Aircon became disabled in the menu. The mapper toggled the function aircon worked again. I had all the checks done aswell.
I tracked down that the signal from the ECU wasnt active.
From memory I think its is grounded for aircon to work. I grounded the wire and the solenoid activated indicating the ECU wasnt doing its bit.
Hope this helps. Quite difficult to trace the wiring but it did help me for my problem.

if you have less than the minimun pressure in the air con system it may not operate as some systems dont operate if the r134a gas is low. some have a system where they dont run all the time, its an on off system. youve done the main checks, the others you can do is wiring checks from the compressor to the air con switch wiring connector. if the continuety is bad (high ohm reading) then there is a damaged wire. the pump internals (pistons) may have failed but without putting an air con machine on it to check for correct pressure you may need to spend some pennies. just be careful when messing with air con systems if not qualified as you can get fined. hope you sort it out
