Default Can you disable/enable classic airbag?

As title when i bought my type r the airbag light was on and was told by the last owner that he had it disabled due to them sometime setting off? i picked it up fairly cheaply so it didnt really bother me much then. Now have added my gf to my insurance and would like to enable it..

I went to my local garage who could not go into the feature to enable it with his snap-on diagnostic machine..

Would i have to go a main dealer to enable it?

Any help would be appriciated..

First thing, take the airbag out of the steering wheel and make sure it's plugged in

Has the previous owner disabled it by using a resistor? I think the resistor get placed in the "AIRBAG" bulb's socket (rear of instrument binnacle), or something like that.........
