The dimensions of both blocks are the same so are interchangable...........unless you are running huge power then which block makes no difference.

Why do you need to change the heads ??

If you have a cdb it should cross hatching on the block where they split below the alternator

All the EJ20 v1-4 heads are the same castings, wrx have hyd lifters, sti have solid ones. Cams differ depending on year, again wrx and sti are different, some RA are different again. There are underbucket and overbucket shims too depending on year

Hi mate i need to change tappets and valve stem seals and i've seen these heads for sale and it seems easier to change the complete heads than seals and tappets

by tappets do you mean cam followers ?? Have you had a search around here for API's advice on noisy top ends??

500 has answered your questions.......for the most part the RA (Race Altered) were lightened / cheaper versions of the siblings on which they were based.

Top arrow points to the general area under the alternator for the cross hatching and the lower arrow points to modine/oil filter housing cross hatching
