hi guys i have a 05 wrx blobeye... whilst driving home the other day i started to notice a very strange noise at every traffic light! thought nothing of it and carried on as i was close to my house.. then 2 streets away from my house bang! bang! bang! and there was no power steering and numerous warning lights came on!!
so i lift my bonnet to find the crank shaft pulley hanging off and most of my belts nearly off, !!
i have been recommended to change belts as they may of become stretched, and also been told to do my timing belt at the same time!?? is this a wise move ??
and also i wanted to know what people think of lightweight pullys (japspeed etc) are they worth the money ? or shall i just get a standard subaru part ?

has anyone else had this problem ?

At the very least I'd have your timing belt inspected, in terms of light weight pulleys, they look good if you're spending a bit on dressing up the engine bay, I understand the logic behind how the make a difference but if you're car standard, can't go wrong with the oem Subaru parts

if its been loose you need to get the Key and key way checked for wear, if its worn I believe its a new crank.

The key is terrorised ! And from what I can imagine the crank will be to !!!! Any recommendations ??
