Default thats it subaru oil filters are a bag of ****

this is now my 4th blue filter i change the oil again yesturday at my usal 3000 -4000 mile period, clean the are of contact where the filter sits a bit of oil round the rubber gasket pre fille oil filter the usal **** and yet again there is a drips of oil on the bottom of my filtter this is the fourt one that this has happend to in a row , i even spoke to a mechaic at subaru yesturday who confirmed they have a problem with these blue ones with this sort of thing, i am sick to death of this now and we be buying a cheap blue print one as i used years ago so all i can say is subaru you cheap f ing money grabing A holes rant over enjoy your week end every one im going sink 12 bottles of coll sol beer : >

Sorry to hear of your problems with the filter. I,ve used about 4 or 5 of these new filters and had no bother.Either your unlucky or I,m lucky. Steve.

Sorry to hear that mate, I bought a few black ones last time I was at the main dealer I'm now on my last one so it looks like I will have to buy the dreaded blue filter next time unless there is an alternative one.

+1 blueprint adl is the way forward for now i think !

i have used the ones from eurocarparts on last 2 changes had no bother with them

+ another 1 for Blueprint...

Not had the (dis?)pleasure of using a blue genuine filter as it was a few yrs since my last Scoob and back then the genuine's were black, and after reading a few posts on the blues since getting my latest Mistress I've stuck to Blueprint.

I've got one from a late Mazda RX8, changed 1000 miles ago, no problems at all.

K&N Oil filters are another decent alternative......

These are what I use now, made by same company as the old impreza one with the same bypass spring pressure.

Thanks. Got s mazda dealer near me and am going to do an oil change next week so thats an easy option.

Thanks for the exhaust. Its fitted just fine and sounding good.

Never tighten the filter until the metal rim contacts the base. The sealing ring will be too compressed. I've seen weeping caused by garages employing King Kong to change filters!
