fanbelt question...
I recently changed my fan belt and A/C belts, the thing is the fan belt has started to shread from the corner and it has done about 100miles since I changed it, I bought the belt from a local motor spares so I am wondering maybe it wasn't of good quality? Is there a belt that can be recommended or have I fitted it incorrectly?

Rough guess it'll be the alternator/power steering belt. Mine was replaced at the start of the year, the original was in 3 pieces. I used Jap Car Parts for mine and it's been fine. Didn't cost much either, about £12 delivered i think. Maybe less.

Hi,
Could be a few things - were the grooves in pulleys nice & smooth and clean ? Sometimes can get some crap in them (espesh on the crank pulley) and cause the belt to 'run' against the walls on the pulleys.
Or, were the pulleys running straight ? Again, if any were slightly wobbley that again may cause premature wear.
There are some cheap belts about, but they usually squeal rather than fray so quickly.
Hope helps,
