Default Help! what springs ?

Hi guys ,

I own a subaru 2.0 gl non turbo and im looking to lower her slightly.

Do turbo springs fit or would you not recommend using them ?

also i have 16" alloys with 45 profile tyres that will be going on the car so when i lower how much would be better : 30mm ? or 35mm?

thanks for your time

Jim

Hi Jim

I would recommend Prodrive (Eibach) P1 springs (painted red). These lower the car, but not by much.

30-35mm is too much and would give you problems and mess up your handling, making it worse.

Whatever you do, keep away from Tein S-Tech lowering springs

clicky

Are these the same as Prodrive ones?

http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...roducts_id=256

I've heard they stopped making Prodrive P1's?

You could always buy a second hand set of struts and springs. That's what I did.

No, those aren't the ones.

I got mine from scoobypats and they are listed as Genuine Prodrive P1 spring set. They are made by Eibach

Here's the spring fitted to a P1 strut

I would suggest Bonesetter that your old shocks were worn. I know plenty of people, including myself running Tein springs that have never had a problem with hitting the bumpstop. You're the only person i've ever heard complain about them to be honest.

The only person ever eh?

They totally **** the handling of the Scooby. Almost every aspect of the car's handling is affected - roll centre drops through the floor creating more roll. You'll be almost touching your bump stops having very little damper travel left due the over lowering. Also the camber curve is drastically increased

Basically they are a cosmetic add-on, and certainly not a performance one

I wasnt questioning the styling/performance of the springs. They dont lower the car sufficiently on healthy shocks to hit the bump stops under normal/spirited driving.

ok ive been on the net for over an hour looking for some of these p1 springs.

theyre a bitch to find , is there an alternative?

remember theyre 16" alloys going on the car not 17" so does this mean i have more room to play with ?

thanks for all your help on this

It's difficult to feel if you're on or hitting the bump stops anyway. You will feel it if you're hard into a corner/bend and your outside loaded front wheel hits a bump.
