Does it have 4 pots up front? Because as far as I know, Type R's have the 2 pot rears, like you get on newages. But perhaps that was only if it has 4 pots.

Are you sure? 290mm is the 2 pot rear size.
And to quote the brake master himself: https://www.scoobynet.com/showpost.p...33&postcount=7

Ian, does the MY99/00 Type R setup have the vented 290mm discs for 170mm handbrake shoes? Or are they for 190mm?

Basically, which ones would I need to replace my regular STi 5's OEM sliding brake caliper set-up, out of the permutations from vented/solid/190/170?

I have just sent someone seals and pistons , to be told the version 3 type R caliper has a smaller piston , the pads are the same so I thought the calipers were the same , the customer is supposed to be sending there caliper in to us to refurb now so I can see the differences for myself.

The rear disc you need to fit the 2 pot calipers are the 290mm vented discs with the 170mm handbrake as found on the 2001 onwards WRX , we supply our grooved ones for £89 a pair

Cheers Ian
