99 impreza 2000T
Hi all.
Iv finally got around to buying myself an impreza. Have wanted one for years and finally bought one the other week.
It is a 2000 turbo on a V plate with 85,000miles on the clock in dark blue. It has full service history up until 10k ago stamped in the book too.
Now iv been going through all the reciepts etc to see what mods etc have been done to the car, and so far i have found its got a baileys dump valve, tornado cat back s/s exhaust and a K+N filter.
Iv now changed the oil and plugs, and am going to be doing the gearbox oil and diff oil soon.
Iv been looking on the net at all of the different tuning options available, and i nearly fried my brain!! so i thought id cut to the chase and ask you guys what you think.
My thoughts are to remap the car, and get a new exhaust from the turbo back. Everyone seems to say decat the whole system, is this neccessary? and is it a good idea to decat before the remap? And do they run ok decatted? iv read about CEL lights etc and detonation.
Im also unsure what diameter exhaust i would need, and what brands you recccomend
im looking for about 250 - 270bhp. Is this achievable with Remap and decat?

to get that sort of power your oe turbo will manage,a 2.5" full exhaust system inc downpipe(decat),walbro fuel pump,decent panel air filter and a ecutek remap will be perfect for you.
should see 250-260bhp and around 280lbft torque.

Dave you tit, welcome to the gang 
You need to do the mods before the remap, and ideally we need to get it to a tuners to see a) what its putting out, and b) wether its already had a map otherwise you'll be starting from scratch.
Once I get my engine sorted we can book a day together at Zen where i'm getting my map tweeked and you can see whats what.
