Default Indicator noise

Hi All,

Picked up my 1st scoob this weekend a bugeye wrx wagon.

I love the car its perfect for what i need except 1 thing the noise the indicators make is the worst noise I've heard a car make. It sounds like something you'd expect to hear as a submarine sprung a leak!! warning warning!! lol

I assume this is the normal noise & mine isn't a 1 off? now can it be swapped for another relay from another car? or can i just remove the relay? will the indicators still work?

what relay is it?

Also when i unlock the car & open the drivers door i sometimes get another noise like you would hear when a mobile phone powers up?

again is this normal? i dont have a user manual yet so cant check.

thanks,

Sounds like your relay is faulty it should be a normal tick tick noise,

No, indicators need a flasher unit (relay) to work

Its right above the clutch pedal on mine, 2004 STI, just switch the indicators on and follow the noise, shouldnt be too hard to find.

If you take the bottom part of the dashboard off under the steering colum you should find it right there on the left just above where your foot sits on the clutch pedal you will know which one it is as soon as you touch it you will feel the relay clicking inside.
