Default Engine management light!!! Help!!!

Can someone help me please!

I was driving along yesterday when my management light came on. The car still drives like normal and sound the same so I have no idea what it could be. I've been told that because I have changed my exhaust to a bigger one it could have blown the sensor in the exhaust.

Can anyone suggest what's up, how to find the issue or how to fix it!?

Thanks in advance

You can get obd2 diagnostic readers on ebay for around £20, get one of them and they plug into just behind and underneath of where the steering wheel is.

You can then see what code has been stored on the ecu, you could either remedy it straight away or erase and see if it happens to come back then sort it out.

Where abouts you from mate. Maybe ask someone close by to plug a cable in and check it out for you?

It will come up with code P0420 most probably, which is as a result of decatting the exhaust.

Will either need a cel fix resistor fitted or a remap to switch the code off permanently and to control the overboosting that will be happening.

Thanks for all the replies. I was just driving the car and the light went off by itself!! I might have to invest getting te diagnostics just to see if anything is wrong.

Oh and I'm from silverstone in northamptonshire.
