ive recently built the engine on the impreza with the following
sti 8 bottom end
polished / ported sti 3/4 heads and cams
550cc injectors with parallel fuel rails
cosworth gaskets
arp head set
front mount intercooler
tubular headers wrapped
3 inch decat
walbro
tdo5 20g turbo

when first started and it smoked on tick over i thought the fpr was to fault as bought used so bought a new one and fitted today and it still smokes on tick over, any ideas and things to try would be great as dont want to run her and risk any damage

Has it been mapped yet?

If not it will be running rich as hell I guess, be careful how long you run it like that especially new as you risk bore wash.

Try not to use the car much & bang some reputable octane booster in until a map or rolling road diagnostic. I had bore wash from rich idle and got a £4000 bill.

as above its probably really rich as youve fitted larger injectors with out mapping yet. it will have the same injector opening times etc but more volume of fuel so will ofcourse be rich.

cool.the car has only ran for about two ten min sessions and wont be ran till mapped. didnt want to book in for mapping then find out it was something causing fault and have to end the session.

Had the same when I fitted larger injectors, way too much fuel going into the cylinders which passes the piston rings when compressed and mixes with the oil, can you smell petrol on the dipstick?
