standard ecu

ah *****! does that mean it cant be remapped?
the reason being ive had the car for a while and went for an mot and failed on emmissions changed the cat incase that was the prob but the same issue the guy said because it has a fmic and exhaust and filter it should have been mapped and thats why the emmissions are off and it wont pass the mot without it.
any ideas guys??

I think I spoke to you on the phone earlier, they are not remappable as standard, although it could have an ESL daughterboard fitted which would make it mappable. To be honest it sounds like the lambda sensor is just not working as it should. Do you know what the readings were?

To be honest mate id get rid of the FMIC. You can get a polar performance chip or similar for the Z4 ecu which will suit your mods but FMIC does you no favours unless you are planning on Big BHP.
I take it it does have TD05 turbo fitted?

Hi mate ye spoke to you earlier, dont know what the readings were but i dont have a lamda sensor fitted i just bunged the hole cos i got hold of a cat from a type-r and its in a different place to the wrx it seemed (at the top of the downpipe) was told it didnt need to be connected!?! whats your thoughts?
hi dan2926, dont fancy changing it all back to standard mate cos id have to buy all the standard parts and its a pace products set which includes a radiator intercooler and pipework which i believe is expensive, ye it has a td05
cheers lads

No lambda = emissions fail, the ecu relies on the lambda for emissions/fuel control on light throttle and idle or off boost driving. Without it you are running rich and may end up with engine damage, does it not illuminate the cel because it should do?? Put the lambda in the top of the downpipe and take it for retest

The Lambda should be in the manifold, so as you look at the engine left hand side near the front, the sensor that goes by the old cat is the cat on fire sensor, which isn`t needed if running decatted.
If I were you I`d get a new lambda sensor, as it looks as if it could be duff, also get the car warm and take it for a decent spin so its hot when your there.
Worst case scenario is to take off the pipes to the FMIC and fit a standard top mount for the test, and then when done plumb the FMIC back in. But for long term use get the car mapped with an ESL or if you can stretch get a Simtek.
