Removing weight from the car.
I am at the point of thinking of taking my car off the road so I can start removing some of the weight for the sprints and hillclimbs that I do. Has anyone got any suggestions about what they have removed and how much they saved? Ive got the 53 STI so its a big lump and currently around 1400Kg. Weve been thinking about removing the AC, seats and swapping pulleys for light weight versions. Ive already got lightweight wheels with low prof track tyres, and a lightweight flywheel, but it still feels like I am trying to pull the Queen Mary round the track. And after much trial and error, the adjustable suspension is set to its optimum values for my driving style. I reckon I need to lose at least 200Kg to make the difference to the power weight ratio noticeable. So if anyone has got any weight values for anything I can move, it would help to work out what to do first. Any suggestions about how much weight could be saved by losing stuff?

I have to keep my interior for the class I'm in but the AC & all it's gubbins have been removed then fitted lightweight pulleys & flywheel. I changed the front seats for Sparco items.
You'll also be surprised how much the stock headers & up-pipe weigh in comparison to stainless steel items!
Empty the IC spray & washer bottles too.
You can also take the back seats out, removing all the guts & foam before putting them back.

I saved about 110kg by fitting lightweight bucket seats, removing air con, removing jack/spare wheel/wheel clamp/wheel tools/boot carpet, removing front bumper girder and the huge horseshoe brace.
Bloody thing flies.
I'd like some plastic windows next to save another 10kg or so.

Thanks for all the suggestions, some worth trying and some I will probably give a miss lol. Clearly you are all gentlemen and married as no-one suggested I should lose weight myself presumably in case I had a hissy fit. I wish I had realised how much lighter the Spec C was before I bought the blobeye, but its my first Scooby after a couple of Supras and didnt even think about racing it till I braved the first Scoobysprints. And 'I think I would miss it now. So it looks like the aircon and replacing the seats should be first see if that makes a difference. Thanks again for all the advice. Liz

Sound deadening
AC and complete Heating system
Interior
Fuel tank and replace with a cell in the boot
Seat, door card etc
Replacing body panels etc with carbon or Fibreglass
Just a few ideas and depends on how farv you want to go.
