Why not just but an IC from harvey and have it professionally coated?

any spray/body shop.

I think you need one layer of etch primer and two thin layers of paint.

DO NOT POWDERCOAT OR APPLY TOO MANY LAYERS OF PAINT AS IT WILL ACT AS A INSULATOR.

all paint will chip, but in using the acid etch you will limit the chipping and give it the best chance. Be sure to use some pannel wipe to de-grease it first too

Here's an interesting quote from Harvey

I very much doubt there will be any current whatsoever in the core fins.
So while a great idea I think you have to check with your local anodiser who will confirm an FMIC core is not an item that is practical for anodising.
If you do check with an anodiser let me have the feedback as it is something I am interested in. Thanks.

As regards powder coating, I think the effect will be quite noticable. My APS core is powder coated (by APS) and on two of my other cars the Hybrid FMICs outperform the APS substantially, in part I am sure, because they are NOT powder coated.
I have rang round this morning and found an anodiser who says if the whole fmic is aluminium then he can do it, he says he'll need to see the fmic to give me a quote so he can have an idea how he can set his rig up.

Harvey I can give you his details if you want them.
