What will go wrong next?
I have a 2004 Impreza STI. When I bought the car it had covered 58k miles and the timing belt had just been changed by Subaru. The clutch started slipping at 67k and after looking at replacing the clutch myself I opted not to do so as it looked like too big a task. No garage wanted to know, except one… This was the Subaru dealer I bought the car from. They quoted me 880 inc VAT for the job. I dropped it off as they had me over a barrel as the car was becoming harder to drive. All I wanted to know is anything else likely to go in the near future? If so I am going to have to get rid of the car as I can’t afford to pour this much money into it each year!

67k is about average for an sti clutch, 880 is expensive look at scoobyclinic etc i got an uprated exedy one fitted for £600
a clutch is an item that wears like brake pads etc and a 67K sti is about due a replacement clutch hardely unexpected surely??
if you buy an sti surely you expect some things to be a bit more costly than a normal car.
you have just replaced the clutch so why sell it if there is nothing else wrong with it??

Yeah I read the clutch lasts 70k and even the garage said so. I'm just gutted about the price. The flywheel was worn too. Luckily they have skimmed that which takes the total to 930. I just can't afford to shell out over 900 a year so if nothing is scheduled to go wrong at 80 or 90k I'll be happy. The car does get a bit of abuse. I wouldn't have bought an sti otherwise
